SPRING RACING NEWS – September 2013

I am just starting to put some of my S/S 2013-14 collection up on my website.  My designs are all bespoke pieces, so you will never see your Christine Waring hat/headpiece on another person.  I am happy to make up in other colours or with different trims, a design you may like in my collections but they will, of course, be slightly different in design and construction.

For enquires please email:  waring@cbit.net.au or phone 0416623788 (m),  (02)62489302.  All my hats/headpieces come with a glossy hat box and instructions on the placement of your hat/headpiece and can be posted to
most places.  More to come……………………

2113 A CANBERRA ODYSSEY – 13 July – 3 November CMAG

Very honoured to be part of this amazing exhibition on at the Canberra Museum and Gallery.  I was commissioned to recreate headdresses worn to a club in Sydney c.1924 by Walter and Marion Burley Griffin.  I only had one blurred black and white photo to work from.  An exciting challenge.

HIGH TEA AT THE HYATT – Gatsby Girls/Jasmine’s Friends – August 2013

An afternoon at the Hyatt wearing their Cloches.

A fun, creative Saturday at Jasmine’s.  Here they all are looking like they just popped out of a 1920’s film set.

I was thrilled to be invited back again this year to run a ‘Fascinator’ workshop with this young, creative bunch of women. They are planning to wear their fascinators on Melbourne Cup Day.

GET YOUR GATSBY ON – Cloche Workshop – JULY

In conjunction with ‘A Capital Collection’ Exhibition I ran a fur felt ‘Cloche’ workshop at NCEA.  Here are the Gatsby Girls in their creations.

WOW!  What a fantastic week.  Tutoring, parties, reconnecting with millinery friends, meeting new friends.  A big THANK YOU to all who attended my workshops, it was lovely meeting you all.  Some happy moments below and impressive creations made in my workshops!

SOME KIND WORDS………….”Just a quick note to thank you for THE BEST DAY ever at Hats Off.  Your class was the second best day of my life – after my wedding day!  I love the fact that the Knots & Twists technique gives you quick and dramatic results.  I also really appreciated the personal attention you gave to each and everyone of us.  I had a ball and love the 3 hats I came away with at the end of the highly productive day.  Many, many thanks Natalie Codling”.

A Capital Collection – our history back in fashion at the National Capital Exhibition Centre – May 2013

The second part of the exhibition – The Opening of Parliament House 1927 – honoured to have been commissioned to make a replica of a ‘Cloche’ worn to the opening.

Some lovely words from a student…..”Thank you so much for another
great semester.  It has been a delight to learn from a millinery master,
always bringing her joy and fun to class.  Thanks for sharing your
knowledge with us”. Semester 1, 2013.

Glorious Days Australia 1913 – April 2013

A fun family day was held at the National Museum of Australia where I was invited to demonstrate hat making and run a fascinator workshop at their ‘Country Fair from Yesteryear’.  Bravo Canberra!
